PLAYER & PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT

  • AYSO Code of Conduct

All AYSO Region 418, Northwind SC and EXTRA players and parents agree and understand

    that:

AYSO Region 418 is a volunteer-run organization and requires a broad base of volunteers to make all of our programs possible. AYSO Region 418 is able to develop players and people through consistent application of the AYSO mission: to develop and deliver quality youth soccer programs which promote a fun, family environment, built on the foundation of the AYSO Six Philosophies: Everyone Plays, Balanced Teams, Open Registration, Positive Coaching, Good Sportsmanship, and Player Development. All AYSO programs follow these same guidelines and mission.

Moreover, AYSO Region 418 encourages leadership and volunteerism from both Northwind and EXTRA players and parents, and we strongly ask and encourage parents to help as EXTRA Coaches, Northwind or EXTRA Team Parents, and/or any other of the many volunteer positions available within AYSO Region 418.

  • Player Code of Conduct

    • Represent Northwind Soccer Club, EXTRA, and AYSO Region 418 with values and principles of the highest standard on and off the field.
    • Conduct myself in a manner that shows respect to my teammates, coaches, trainers, referees, and parents. I will refrain from criticizing others, such as referees, teammates, and coaches, and I will refrain from foul language on the pitch or at soccer related activities.
    • Be prepared to succeed. I understand that: a. Appropriate program approved training equipment includes training jersey, shorts, socks, and club-provided pinnie at every training session. b. I need to be on time for all training sessions and games. Which means arriving at least ten minutes prior to the start of training and 45 minutes prior to the start of games.c. I need to bring an age appropriate and correctly inflated soccer ball, water, shin guards, and cleats to every soccer experience. I will not wear jewelry at any practices or games.
    • Be positive. I will work hard at training and maintain a winner’s focus during training and games.
    • Adhere to the player contract for the entire soccer year. A Northwind player is not allowed to participate in non-sanctioned events with other clubs during this time without approval from the Northwind Board of Directors. Players will notify coaching staff or Board of Directors if approached to play for another club during the season.
    • Commit to play for Northwind for the full fall/winter/spring season; or EXTRA for the full fall/spring season. Further, I understand that all EXTRA players are required to be concurrently enrolled and participating in the AYSO Region 418 Core program for the full fall/spring season. (Please note that the high school-age girls Northwind season will run during the fall and winter, and the high school-age boys Northwind season will run during the winter and spring, to complement the soccer programs in the schools.)
    • Commit to most or all training sessions and games. I will let my coach know about missing a training session with as much advance notice as possible.
    • Accept the possibility that there may be player movement from higher level teams to lower level teams, and understand that there may be player movement from lower level teams to higher level teams. Such decisions are generally made during the winter season, and a defined process will be followed for all such cases.
    • Refrain from use of alcohol, drugs, nicotine or anything else that impairs athletic ability.
    • Respect and adhere to all health and safety decisions and guidelines issued by and from time to time updated by Northwind or Region 418 related to COVID-19.
    • I understand that AYSO Region 418 will not refund player enrollment or uniform fees, for any reason after this invitation has been accepted and registration in the Northwind SC or EXTRA program has been completed.
  • Parent Code of Conduct

    • Support each player in a positive way. I understand that sideline coaching is prohibited and that encouragement is all that is needed. I understand that each player has his/her own special contributions to each game and I agree to find these moments in discussing the game and maintain a positive environment.
    • Treat all players, opponents, parents, referees, and coaches with courtesy, respect and good sportsmanship. I will not engage with opponents, parents, officials and coaches in any negative or disrespectful way. I will not address the officials at any time and I understand that any disparaging remarks to a youth referee will be met with a zerotolerance policy.
    • Respect and understand that there may be player movement between higher level teams and lower level teams. Such decisions are generally made during the winter season, and a defined process will be followed for all such cases.
    • Provide or arrange for prompt transportation to and from games and training.
    • Respect our coaches and trainers even if we disagree. There will be no direct or immediate dialogue with a coach or trainer after a game to discuss contentious issues. Rather, I understand that a coach or trainer will be happy to discuss contentious issues after a 24-hour cool-down period and not in front of youth players in a combative or aggressive way. I agree that in discussing such issues I will not behave in a way that could be perceived as disrespectful, abusive, or threatening.
    • Respect that coaches and trainers are responsible for decisions on playing time, and such decisions may be affected by training sessions missed, player attitudes or cooperation, and lack of adherence to coach or trainer game day agenda or plan.
    • Respect that Northwind is a full fall-winter-spring season-long commitment and Extra is a full fall-spring season-long commitment. I understand that AYSO Region 418 will not refund player or uniform fees for any reason after this invitation has been accepted and registration in the Northwind SC or AYSO EXTRA Program has been completed.
    • Respect and follow all health and safety decisions and guidelines issued by and from time to time updated by Northwind or Region 418 related to COVID-19.
  • Disciplinary Action

Behavior that is deemed inappropriate or otherwise not consistent with this agreement by the Northwind Board of Directors, EXTRA Program Director, or AYSO Region 418 Board of Directors may result in disciplinary action, which may include but is not limited to:

    1. A verbal or written warning to both the player and the parent.

    2. Placement on probation with the possibility of missing games and/or training.
